Hotel for Dogs: How Our Scarborough Hotel Caters for Man’s Best Friend

At Bike and Boot, we believe that dogs deserve holibobs too. That’s why we’ve designed our hotel to be the best dog friendly hotel in Scarborough (and possibly the world!), so that no canine is ever left behind.

Hounds really are our VIPs. That’s why we’ve shared the many ways we look after our favourite furry friends, from serving them a poochy pint to giving them a cut and blow dry.

Sniff & Snooze

Everyone needs a comfy place to sleep at our hotel – even hounds. All of our doggy designated rooms are pet friendly, and come with a vet bed, making them pawfect for your favourite family member.

As humans probably won’t join them on the floor overnight, we also provide each pup with a complimentary toy to snuggle up to. A new stuffed bff will be waiting in your canine’s bed, ready to greet them after their long day of beach walks and greeting other dogs with a bum sniff.

The Dog’s Dinner

Dogs are completely welcome in our Bareca restaurant, where we serve special doggy beer- the only place in Scarborough where you can have a pint with your pooch! Bowls of water are also available for those that prefer a lighter option.

We’d love for your dog to pull up a chair at the table, but they must remain on the floor whilst humans dine on our delish dishes. But hey! They can drool over their owner’s delicious grub- then drown their sorrows in their puppy pint when they don’t receive a bite.

Roam Free

When we say dogs are welcome, we mean it! They have full access everywhere in the hotel (other than our dog-free rooms, boo). This includes our Film Club, where doggies can put their paws up and relax in front of their favourite films. Lady and the Tramp anyone?

They can also curl up in the retreat and enjoy some doggy dreams whilst their human plays chess or settles down with a good book.  Peace and quiet is in the air here… until it’s time for walkies again, of course.

Prune Your Pooch

Here at the Bike and Boot, we have our very own doggy paradise, aka the Wadobi. Dogs can hop up onto our washing and grooming stations, grab a posh blow dry and make use of our poochy pamper products. Bliss!

When you’re ready to get muddy again, the Wadobi is also stocked with walking maps of the local area, so you and your pet pal can explore to your heart’s content. You’ll both be expert explorers before you know it.

Paddles Galore!

Our hotel’s seafront location is perfect for that essential activity- chasing seagulls on the beach! There are some restrictions on Scarbados’ North and South Bay in the summer season, but there are still designated places where dogs can do zoomies on the sand.

What’s more, just a few miles south of Scarborough is a well-hidden gem – Cayton Bay. Surrounded by colossal cliffs, this quiet, dog-friendly beach allows pooches to prance along its shores all year long. Shh, don’t bark about this secret spot too loudly!

So, what are you waiting for? Bring along man’s best friend and let them sample our pet friendly Scarborough hotel for themselves. You can book your dog to stay with us for £15 a night, per hound. Go on…

Five Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Our Scarborough Hotel

Did you know we have our own Film Club? Or that we serve cake for FREE? There’s lots of reasons why you’re in for a one-of-a-kind stay at our sea front hotel! In this blog, we’re revealing five things you probably didn’t know about our Scarborough hotel, so you can make the most of your stay with us.

You can have free coffee & cake in the Retreat

For a little down time away from your room, why not chillax in the Retreat? You’ll feel right at home in the cosy setting, especially with the family arguments brought on by our selection board games. Uno anyone?

If that’s not enough to persuade you to unwind in the Retreat, we’re going bottomless. Keep your pants on! We mean we’re serving unlimited hot drinks, of course. Like a werewolf at a full moon, you can reveal your inner Bruce Bogtrotter around 4pm daily, and tackle our free cake. Hurry while it lasts!

We love doggos!

Here in Scarborough, we just love dogs! With so many dog friendly attractions, we were recently voted the second top doggo staycation location in the UK. Here at Bike & Boot, we are so proud to be at the top of the food chain for dog friendly hotels in Scarborough.

Dogs are our VIPs! We will welcome your companion with a lovely toy lobster, which they can keep, cuddle and play with to their little heart’s content.

As much as we all adore them, on all dog holidays in Scarborough, that dirty dog smell is a potent pet peeve. We have facilities to scrub your hound and perm them with a blow dry, so they’re bedroom ready. If dogs aren’t for you (WHY not?!) we also have Dog Free Rooms available!

Our Wadobi facilities are a helping hand for bikers and hikers

Being a seafront hotel in Scarborough, we’re the perfect central destination for your outdoor activities. That’s why we’ve introduced Wadobi, with free facilities that fulfil all your needs!

Start those wetter days off right with your pick of raincoats and umbrellas. Pump up those bike tyres, or stick your wetsuit on in the changing rooms. Forgot your bike? Hire one of our top of the range Trek electric bikes, perfect for touring the coast and moors. And, when you arrive back to us after your down and dirty day, the Wadobi will be ready to greet you.

Our washing stations are here to service your surfboards, bikes and muddy boots and leave them prepared for their next adventure. You can clean your mucky pup too at the grooming parlour. When you’re done, lock your boards, boots & bikes away for a safe, sound and secure night’s sleep.

We have our own in-house Film Club

Fancy a free trip to the cinema? All our guests are invited to the Film Club, right here at our Scarborough hotel. Whether it’s sci-fi, family films or romance you desire, with movies showings three times a day, there’s something for everyone. Swap your pic n’ mix for a pint and snacks, which you can grab from your room or the bar. No need to book, just turn up!

Our rooms have amazing features

Wake up and smell the coffee! All our rooms, great and small, come complete with a Barista-style coffee machine. So, you can ease yourself into the day in the best hotel rooms in Scarborough. If you fancy something stronger, the well-stocked minibars are full to bursting with tinnies and tipples, fresh milk & snacks. We also provide ice machines so you can chill that drink, free water, a hair dryer, iron and board.

Unlike other hotels in Scarborough, your TV won’t be limited to the odd few news channels. Oh no, our TVs can link with your phone, laptop or tablet, allowing you to stream your own movies and binge your favourite tv shows on a bigger screen. So, you can kick back and chill out with some quality viewing before bed.

Is this not the greatest hotel you’ve ever seen? Our unique hotel is as charming as the town we sit in, and will be sure to make your stay unforgettable. We hope these features have persuaded you to pay us a visit on your Scarborough holidays!

Our top 5 local dog walks

It’s true what they say about dogs being man’s best friend, and there’s nothing better than spending quality time with your bestie. Now, we’re not suggesting you take your dog out for a drink or a slap-up dinner, but a stroll through the park – or even further afield – isn’t a bad idea to keep your furry friend happy. We’ve put together a list of the best walking routes in North Yorkshire so you don’t have to.

Raincliffe Woods

Raincliffe Woods is a popular dog-walking spot a couple of miles outside of the town centre. There are three trails for you to follow with your pooch: Rowntree, Graham and Wallis – each with varying gradients and lengths. If you’re looking to challenge yourself, the Wallis route is the most strenuous, and when you get back to the hotel, we recommend that you make use of our dog washing station to keep you both smelling fresh.

Dalby Forest

If you’re able to get a bit further out of town, Dalby Forest is well worth a visit. There are 13 walking trails to choose from, including easy access routes, so everyone should be able to find something to do. The Woodcock Way Circular Walk starts off at Staindale Lake and climbs so you get a great view across the moor.

Broxa Forest

Broxa Forest is a smidge closer to Scarborough than Dalby, and offers a more rugged walk. The views around the edge of the track are fantastic, and you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. There’s plenty of wildlife to see down by the River Derwent too, so while your dog’s having a sniff around, you can try and spot some of the forest’s wildlife.

Cayton Bay

Just a few miles south of Scarborough is Cayton Bay, a wild and rugged dog-friendly beach. This walk is perfect if you want to get away from town and feel the sea breeze. Cayton Bay is a popular surfing spot due to its full exposure to the North Sea, so you might want to take your jacket to avoid those winds! Keep an eye out for fossils while your dog’s out letting off some steam.

Forge Valley Woods

Forge Valley Woods is a two-mile route that should be relatively easy for most dogs. It runs through the valley and leads you past a disused quarry, passing through wild garlic to follow the course of the River Derwent. This is another route that’s teeming with life and you can easily lose yourself in the natural beauty that surrounds you. We do recommend that you keep your dog on a lead around here, though!

We’re in a perfect location for you to access both the stunning woodlands of North Yorkshire, as well as the wild and windy side of Britain’s coast – and the best part? You don’t have to leave your best friend at home! Take a look at our facilities to see how your stay with us can be the perfect holiday for your furry friend too.
